Kentville, Nova Scotia
B4N 2E5
Weddings must be arranged in advance. In order to schedule a ceremony, or cancel one already arranged, you should contact:

Weddings will be performed on each Friday between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM.
The fee for performing the marriage in the court facility is $86.93 plus $11.30 HST for a total of $98.23 and must be paid to the court prior to the wedding. This is in addition to the marriage license fee. (The courts do not sell Marriage Licenses.)
PLANNING YOUR WEDDING
You should be aware of the following points in planning for your special day:
Your marriage license must be obtained prior to the wedding and sections 4 to 25 must be completed prior to giving it to the Justice of the Peace. You will receive a number of documents and a self addressed envelope from the Marriage License Issuer. That entire package must be provided to the Justice of the Peace before your wedding can be performed.
The marriage must be contracted before two or more responsible witnesses who are sixteen years of age or over. These witnesses are in addition to the Justice of the Peace and must be provided by the parties to the marriage, although in exceptional circumstances volunteers may be sought as witnesses.
The parties are required to arrive 30 minutes before the wedding is to take place to ensure all the documentation is in order.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The number of guests attending the wedding ceremony will be determined by the size of the courtroom.
The throwing of rice, confetti, etc., or anything that would alter or deface the court is strictly prohibited.
Cameras will only be permitted in the courtroom.
No food or beverage is to be taken into or consumed in the courtroom.
The courtroom is to be used for the ceremony only. Your reception must be held away from the court facilities.
The noise level from any source must be kept to a normal talking level as courts in adjoining courtrooms may be in session.
